Liberty Belles Are ‘Springing’ Into Action!

Liberty Belles’ workdays at Twice As Nice are fun!

Spring is a time when we all appreciate the changes happening around the Ranch—green grass, colorful flowers blossoming, bees buzzing, birds chirping, neighbors emerging from hibernation! The wind may be blowing up on the “hill,” but the cold of winter is gone (fingers crossed) and the heat of late summer has not arrived. What a great time to celebrate living at Robson Ranch!

The women of the Republican Club (Liberty Belles) have been a busy bunch already this spring. At the March Robson Ranch Republican Club meeting, we passed around a pair of red polka dotted “undies” to raise some “fundies” for the children of the North Texas Collegiate Academy, a low-income charter school in Denton. Donations from the club totaled $523, which will provide lots of new undies for the children! A big thank you to everyone who contributed!

Another charitable cause we support is the Woman to Woman Pregnancy Resource Center in Denton. The center receives operating funds from sales at their thrift store Twice As Nice Resale, and since we started having monthly “workdays” there at the end of September, we have donated 171 volunteer hours! The Belles help out with organizing, sorting, and displaying clothes; sorting toys, shoes, housewares, and accessories; and attaching pricing to housewares and decorative items. The store has switched over to spring and summer items and has monthly sale days, as well as discounts for seniors and military every day. So, head to Twice As Nice for some “new to you” spring clothes and décor!

The Book Club has finished up their winter book and will be starting a new one for the spring. This group is open to all interested Republican women and meets twice a month to discuss a current book selection. Judy Martin-Tafoya is the facilitator of this group. If you would like to suggest a book to read or need more details on joining, you can contact her at 505-252-3214.

Our most exciting news for spring is that we will be hosting our first-ever Liberty Belles Luncheon for all the women of the Republican Club on Monday, April 24, in the Lone Star Room of the clubhouse. The menu includes a baked potato, chili, and salad bar with all the toppings, tea, and dessert for $20. This will be a fun time to meet new members, as well as reconnect with members we haven’t seen in a while. There’s just not enough time to visit at the regular Republican Club meetings! You can drop off your check at the home of Jeanette Bliss, 12104 Willet Way. The deadline for checks is April 20.
