We’re already into the second month of the new year and, like you, I’m still organizing my files, cleaning out my closet, and staying cognizant of the new year “2023” when writing checks. Hopefully, everyone had a blessed Christmas and fun New Year’s celebration. Many residents removed holiday decorations early this year—an example of how quickly we move from one thing to another, and then we wonder, “Where did this year go?”

Feb. 14 is a very special day—Valentine’s Day—a day of love, chocolate, flowers, and some special events here on the Ranch. Enjoy!

We have been asked about the number of defibrillators available and the location of each. The nine defibrillators are located in the following areas: CATC building, clubhouse, Fitness Center, gatehouse, Grill restaurant, Patrol, Pinnacle building, softball field, and tennis courts. To give you better peace of mind, I suggest you check them out while you’re walking or out and about.

We began this year with another presentation from Attorney Travis Weaver on Jan. 5 to a packed room of 65 residents who asked many questions and received answers regarding wills and trusts.

Our Jan. 24 presentation by Dr. Florian Dibra, introduced by Mark Berry of Stryker Corporation, focused on the “aging” question of hips, knees, and joints and the right time for surgery, to a packed room of residents. Dr. Dibra’s presentation with photos was comprehensive and interesting to learn about his robotic technology. Dr. Dibra is with Texas Joint Institute and can be reached at 972-566-5255 for further information and questions.

On Feb. 2 Dr. Suzanne Thai, DDS, discussed sleep disorders and how that relates to good dental hygiene.

On Feb. 16 at 1 p.m., Jennifer Bumpus of Wise Health System returns to bring some updates on the Wise Health System facility.

Coming up on March 2 at 1 p.m., Pam Gutierrez, executive director of MHMR Center, will discuss Mental Health issues, including depression. Please mark your calendar for this important discussion.

You won’t want to miss our huge Robson Ranch annual Health Fair on Saturday, March 25. The clubhouse will be bustling with informative health care professionals and other related health care providers. Anything and everything you wanted to know about health care will be available to you at the fair.

Daylight Saving Time begins on March 12, although this may be the “last” time. The United States Senate passed a bill to make Daylight Saving Time permanent. If enacted, this bill would take effect starting in November 2023.

New boxed gardens are available through Rhett Hubbard. This is a fun way to grow your own veggies and herbs and reap all the benefits.

New vendors have been added to our Friday Market. We’re so blessed to have them selling their products right here on the Ranch. Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. Also, I’ve been writing an article on a vendor’s history each month. I hope you’ve been reading it and getting to know each vendor a little better. Get all the latest information on vendors, events, walks, blood pressure check, and more on our fabulous website, www.rrlwc.com.

Happy Valentine’s Day.
