Neither rain nor shine nor heat nor gloom of night—wait, that may be the creed of the U.S. Postal Service, but without a doubt it is also the creed of Doug Swafford of Doug’s Country Market, a Living Well Committee offered event. This has definitely been the case throughout the month of March with one rain or snow storm after another. Despite the weather conditions, the Country Market is bustling with business each Friday morning between 8:00 and 11:00 a.m. in the clubhouse parking lot. The Country Market, housed under its big white tent, is a welcome site for the many Ranch residents who shop here regularly.
The variety and freshness of the Country Market’s produce is unsurpassed anywhere around: vine ripe tomatoes, spring beets, tender green beans, sweet bell peppers, juicy apples and colorful squashes. But that’s only a small sampling of the weekly produce offerings. Then there’s the local honey, homemade salsas, jams, jellies and pickles, fresh baked breads, fried pies, cinnamon rolls and sweet breads, gourmet tamales, free-range chicken eggs and Amish cheeses.
And it doesn’t stop there. Doug’s Country Market has hormone and antibiotic free beef. The T-bones and roasts are succulent and juicy. Even the hamburger makes an everyday meal gourmet. Boneless chicken breasts, tenderized cutlets and chicken sausage are a sure fire treat. The pork chops and pork steaks are truly mouthwatering.
So, if you’re looking for locally grown farm-fresh produce, eggs and more, stop by Doug’s Country Market each and every Friday. While not necessary to pre-order meats, tamales, eggs, and baked goods, it does help to ensure you get just what you’re looking for. Remember to shop early; once it’s gone, it’s gone. To pre-order, call Doug at 940-387-3323 or email [email protected].
