John Burkholder
October 17 and 18 were special days in the short history of MGA9! Three events transpired, each of which merits individual recognition.
First, MGA9 acknowledged the three years of strong leadership Frank Ruggerio contributed to MGA9 during its founding, growth and continuing success with the presentation of two honorary plaques, one for Frank personally and one for on-going display in the Wildhorse Ranch Golf Club Pro Shop. The plaques thank Frank for his time, dedication and commitment to the Men’s 9 hole group and its remarkable success. MGA9’s new president, Wesson Gaige, presented Frank with his plaque.
Second, MGA9 elected and installed a new slate of officers for 2017, as follows:
President – Wesson Gaige (we’ll wait until year end to gage him)
Vice President – Tom Prohaska (or president of vice, if you prefer)
Treasurer – Norm Legget (talk about giving an arm and a legget…)
Secretary – Charlie Webb (and oh what a lovely secretary he is!)
Third, MGA9 played its third annual Club Championship two-day tournament and crowned its 2016 Club Champion (and Flight 3 winner), Bill Frey. Bill’s winning total net score of 64 was matched by Flight 4 winner Ken Vasey, with Bill earning the Club Crown with the better second day score of 29 versus Ken’s 32. Appropriately our outgoing president, Frank Ruggerio, won Flight 1 with a net score of 65; Tom Goyette’s net 66 score won Flight 2. Each flight winner received congratulations from our newly elected 2017 President, Wesson Gaige. Not only did Bill Frey receive congratulations, he also received a valuable certificate for goods of his choice from our well stocked Golf Pro Shop.
We’re sure each of our Club Championship flight winners will get his well-deserved congratulations/acknowledgement/ribbing from all RR golfers over the next several weeks. I know I’ll give them my fair share! Same, too, for each of our new 9MGA officers. As we all know they truly deserve it; if not now, they will by the end of their terms a year from now!
