Riding season is here, and club members have been planning some wonderful outings. While we love breakfast, lunch, and dinner rides, it is the long-distance, multi-day rides that are the crowning glory of motorcycling. And we are blessed with regional geography that allows us to have those experiences literally in our backyard. We also have adventurous and imaginative members who know of some good routes and are willing to plan the details required for a fun adventure.
Such was the case this year when Ron Bane was planning the Bayou Adventure for the club. The idea was to cruise through East Texas/Western Louisiana roads and meander down to Louisiana Bayou. His meticulous and detailed planning evolved into what was a wonderful experience for Carrylyn Jacobs, Steve Collins, Mike Conley, Doug Henderson, Lawrence Denk, Scott Loftus, and Ron.
The six-day outing started on April 7, heading to Jefferson, Natchitoches, Lafayette, and Nacogdoches. Lodging included the Historic Kahn Hotel, the Château Saint Denis Hotel, the Fredonia Hotel, and rental of the Magnolia House in Lafayette. As always, great dining stops were planned at places like Maglieaux’s Riverfront Restaurant and Clear Springs Restaurant, among others. There was an impressive list of places to visit and things to do. This will definitely require a return trip!
The lunch ride for the month to Rico’s Place in Muenster was rescheduled to April 3 due to weather conditions. Mike Conley planned and led this one and he, Jeff Stieber, Carrylyn Jacobs, and Ron Bane enjoyed the ride and the food.
We look forward to heading to Rooster’s Roadhouse in Decatur for lunch on May 14.
See you on the road!
Beware of cagers, and keep the rubber side down!
