Welcome to fall, finally. We are blessed with marvelous weather, wonderful views, and great fellowship—and, of course, delicious dining. This is the essence of motorcycling. It was a stacked month.
Led by Ride Captain Mike Conley, an enthusiastic group embarked on the annual trip to Granbury on Sept. 29. With a westward start, the route went along Hwy. 114 past Boyd to Hwy. 51. Then it was an easy glide southbound to Hood County and scenic Granbury. The highlight, of course, was seeing the current show at the Granbury Opera House. The irony of a group of mostly retired folks going to see the show 9 to 5 was not lost. The Collinses, Bouses, Bakers, and Conleys thoroughly enjoyed this jaunt.
Oct. 15 to Oct. 20 heralded another annual excursion: the Autumn Color Tour to Arkansas. Following Ride Captain Ron Bane, Joy and Larry Denk, Beth and Steve Collins, Keith Breiner, and Mike Conley, witnessed the full fall foliage offered by nature. They couldn’t have had better weather—sunny, low wind, and cool but comfortable temperatures. What a great relief from the last several months! Ron Bane reports that the roads were in great shape and the twisties were awesome.
Following Hwy. 82 east out of Gainesville, the group rode to Antlers to enjoy Mjay’s Diner. They then rode on to Broken Bow for the evening. Then it was onward to the Natural State, north to Eureka Springs. The next few days were for enjoying the roads and sights of Northwestern Arkansas. They were also able to take in some bowling, hibachi dining, card playing, and an overlook hotel at Mount Magazine. This has become one of the hallmark rides of the club, and we look forward to it again next year.
Motorcyclists constantly need new stuff. It was time for Joyce to get a new lid, and we happened upon Riders Biker Supply in Lewisville. She was fortunate enough to work with Crystal (aka Spider). Their selection was vast, and she provided a great fitting and overall excellent customer service. Give them a look-see (2305 S. State Hwy. 121).
Let’s welcome some new members to the club: Dave and Baerbel Platten and Neil and Michele Edelbaum. We look forward to seeing you on our upcoming rides and hope you will be leading us down the road soon!
Our lunch ride to the Tender Smokehouse in Celina was on Nov. 1. Don’t forget the Coats 4 Kids Ride on Saturday, Nov. 25. Please consider getting a new coat to contribute, and come and join us for the ride (C.H. Collins Stadium) and the after party at American Eagle Harley Davidson!
See you on the road!
Beware of cagers, and keep the rubber side down!
