Lakeside lunch

Stan Brein

Our ride to The Point Restaurant on Lake Texoma on Nov. 1 turned into a free bike wash. By the time we arrived in Krum, it was a downright downpour. We regathered under the shelter of a car wash and decided to call it off and head home. A few of the hearty went for breakfast before returning. Oh well!

The Rollin’ Ranchers Car Club invited the club to join them at the Mayberry Gardens Care Facility in Denton on Nov. 13. We enjoyed showing off our bikes to the residents and engaging in some good conversations about riding.

The Coats 4 Kids Ride on Nov. 30 was well attended, and we were blessed with pleasant weather. We gathered at C.H. Collins Stadium to socialize, deliver coats, and enjoy some morning coffee and treats. Mike Conley led the group from Robson to C.H. Collins, joined by Marti Conley, Vicki and Scott Baker, Vickie Bond, Carrylyn Jacobs, Vickie Rawles, and Stan Brein. About 350 riders headed out for a ride. At American Eagle Harley Davidson in Corinth we enjoyed live music, raffles, 50/50, giveaways, food trucks, and good camaraderie for a great cause. The ride collected 2,409 coats, with Robson Ranch providing more than 200 of these. Thank you to the club and all the Robson residents who donated. A special shout-out goes to Dave and Jan Riddle and the Robson Kiwanis Club, Rose and Steve Depoe of the Rose Realty Team, and Cherlyn and Bob Conway and the Robson West Enders.

We celebrated our annual Holiday Party on Dec. 9 at Lost Colony in Highland Village. We chatted and dined while looking at pictures of all the great places we visited during 2024. Once again, Marti Conley orchestrated a hilarious narrative for the White Elephant gift exchange, challenging our ability to follow passing directions via an oral story. We hope everyone found their gift useful! Club members continued their generous tradition of donating gift cards for use by families in the Denton Independent School District. These were given to Lynn Charles, coordinator of Social Services, for post-holiday distribution.

The only way we get to do so many great rides is to have members step forward and be ride captains. They determine a destination, create a route, and lead the group on the outing. Congratulations to Joyce Brein on her first captainship. She led the group to Bebo and Kathy’s Café in Pilot Point on Dec. 13.

On Dec. 30 Ron Bane surprised us with an 80-degree pop-up December lunch ride to the Lakehouse Marina in Eagle Mountain Lake, a beautiful, meandering ride to the north, west, and south, culminating in a great lunch and beautiful scenery. It was a wonderful way to celebrate Joyce Brein’s birthday!

Remember to renew your membership for 2025. The annual safety meeting is on Feb. 12, and look for us at the Robson Club Fair on March 1.

See you on the road!

Beware of cagers, and keep the rubber side down.
