The Robson Ranch Music Club has been hitting all kinds of high notes. The first such note was their annual Scary-oke Karaoke and Dance Party, and, as usual, the costumes were spook-tac-ular. Partygoers came ready to sing and dance their tail feathers off. Everyone especially enjoyed the special performance of “The Haunted Brides of Robson.” Bet you didn’t know they lived here! The ladies performed to Enyas’ “Flora’s Secret” and were coached by Bert Zeitlin. Three prizes for costumes were given out. Most Creative were John and Marlene McNemar as the game Operation. Scariest was Peter Grasser as the Dead Groom (his wife was a Haunted Bride). Cutest prize went to James and Nancy Burns as Mickey and Minnie Mouse. They all received tickets to the Veterans Day Concert.
Soon following Scary-oke, the club hosted another Music Bingo with a country music theme. A toe-tapping, knee-slapping time was had by all. How can you not have fun with songs like “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy,” “Badonkadonk,” and “Trashy Woman.” The club gave out four great prizes. Movie tickets were won by Jamie Douglas, dinner for two at Chewy’s was won by Tom Meincke, a $50 certificate for Rodeo Goat was won by Dennis Mayer, and two rounds of golf was won by Bill Hackley. Our next Music Bingo will be on Feb. 18, 2024. Come with friends and make new ones while listening to your favorite tunes.
The next note went an octave higher when, on Veterans Day, the Robson Ranch Community Choir performed two glorious concerts, as it has been a tradition for 20 years now. The concert started with the Denton High School Air Force JROTC Color Guard presenting the Colors, then leading all in the Pledge of Allegiance. Afterward, the choir burst into a rousing “Star-Spangled Banner.” The audience heard origins, stories, and poignant narratives about each song being sung. Some readings, as did some songs, brought listeners to tears. Standards “America the Beautiful,” “God Bless America,” and “Stars and Stripes Forever” were all sung with patriotic vigor. Other songs like “For the Beauty of the Earth,” “My Song in the Night,” and “Peace Like a River,” performed with sincerity, were quite touching. The concert ended with crowd favorite, “Salute to the Armed Forces” when each branch of service stands to their song.
The choir will perform “Christmas at the Ranch” on Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 17 at 4 p.m. Tickets are on sale now via PayPal on our website and in the clubhouse on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. Come and enjoy your holiday favorites and new favorites, all, of course, performed by your talented friends and neighbors.
