The Christmas lights are down, and the weather has been unbearably cold and windy—it must be January. NxNW tries not to let that take away from the past year and what a great one it was for our neighborhood.
The NxNW two annual holiday parties capped off the final events for 2023. The parties were filled with fun, fellowship, great food, gifts, holiday socks, door prizes from local vendors, dancing the night away, and showing off the line dance moves from lessons in a neighbor’s garage (prior to the party).
The new year finds NxNW neighbors participating in the new craze, “Dry January” (for those who haven’t heard of this yet, it means no alcohol for the entire month of January), getting back into a routine of exercise programs, the gym, playing their favorite sport, getting involved in the many clubs we belong to, as well as preparing for the Road Runners’ annual cruise in February. There are usually up to six couples from our neighborhood cruisin’ together, which is another opportunity for fun, friendship, and adventure.
We believe that the success of our neighborhood staying involved starts with the ladies of the neighborhood gathering for Whine Chat in someone’s home on the third Monday of every month. We discuss what’s going on in the neighborhood, take time to visit, welcome new neighbors, say goodbye to ones moving away, and, as the name might indicate, there could be some wine pouring, as this was a tough month for those Dry January participants.
The first event for 2024 was a large gathering for Whine Chat at Brenda Demeter’s home. When the email went out about Whine Chat, it included a teaser that we would have a surprise at the end of our meeting. The ladies’ minds were all over the spectrum as to just what this could be. The meeting was filled with the normal discussion and planning of neighborhood 2024 events up to Christmas planning. We enjoyed delicious snacks and each other’s company. As the meeting’s business completed, it was time for our surprise. Joe Demeter and Tim McCormick entered the room and took their place at the piano and microphone and proceeded to entertain the ladies of NxNW.
Songs like “Piano Man,” “Sweet Caroline,” “Beer Barrel Polka,” and “Fly Me to the Moon” had the ladies singing along with toes tapping. The solo piano arrangements capped off the talents of both men. They made a great duo, and it was just another example of the talent in NxNW. In 2023 more of the talent from NxNW was shared at our meetings, such as making a greeting card, wreathes, charcuterie design, cultivating violets, and a presentation of animal shelters’ needs. There is so much talent in Robson Ranch, and it seems like NxNW has its share.
As you can see, Osprey, Brant, Cinnamon, and Willet, aka NxNW, is the place to be. We look forward to seeing you around the Ranch and in our neighborhood in the coming year!
