October Cycling Club Update

Tom Neagli shows the club members cruiser bikes during the Bike Mart tour in October

Randy Catron and John Jordan

Members of the Robson Ranch Cycling Club kept busy during the past month with their weekly rides, the Robson Ranch Olympics, a monthly club meeting, and a tour of Bike Mart in Frisco.

The weekly rides continued but with a later start time of 8 a.m. for the Friday Ramble and the Wednesday and Saturday off-ranch rides. More ride options will be announced soon, including at least one more on-ranch ride.

Eight members of the club reported rides and miles for the Robson Olympics. For the most miles in the September competition, the winner was Ron Bane with 1,012 miles, John Jordan with 506 miles, and Randy Catron with 311 miles. For the most five-mile rides during September, Ron Bane won with 75 rides, John Jordan had 25, and Tim Battle had 17. Congratulations to our riders!

At the September club meeting, Tom Neagli led a discussion about basic bike maintenance. He showed us how to lube the chain (wipe off the excess oil after lubing), as well as how to change a tire. We discussed the importance of keeping the bike in good operating condition, which will enable trouble-free and safe rides.

Club member Tom Neagli also works part time at Bike Mart. He took us on a tour of the Frisco store and showed us the different types of bikes available, as well as clothing, tools, and equipment. Thanks, Tom!
