A group of Robson Ranch golfers traveled to Cozumel, Mexico to support the second annual Putts for Paws golf tournament and fundraiser for the Humane Society of Cozumel. Coming from Canada, U.S. and Mexico, 17 teams participated in the day-long tournament, braving a rain-soaked course, 90+ degree temperature, blood-thirsty mosquitoes and crocodiles on the tee box. Perseverance helped the golfers claim victory over the elements, and they successfully raised $10,600 for the Humane Society of Cozumel. Representing Robson Ranch–Denton were: Linda Klovans, Gale Hicks, Sarah Ray, Sallye Ortiz, Teresa Blackurn-Korn, Susan Miloser, Cindy Bass and Ryoko Stevlingson.
The Humane Society of Cozumel has an International Adoption Program and partners with Canada and the U.S. They have been in operation for 20 years and are the only Latin American program to offer free spay and neuter services seven days a week. Society President Lisa Ramirez stated they shelter 50 to 60 dogs and cats on a daily basis. They also offer an internship program for veterinarian school graduates and vet students.
