Mala Bowdouris, Founding Queen
Boots and Boas was the theme of the 10th anniversary celebration of the Red Hat Ranchers luncheon buffet at the clubhouse on Wednesday, September 23.
Current and past members of the club reminisced about hoots, trips, and events during the club’s ten years. Ladies checked out the scrapbooks, pictures and copies of old Pioneer Press newspapers. A poem recounting the club’s history was written and read by Jan Utzman. Founding current club members attending the event were introduced: Sally Hampton, Rosemary Weinstein, Jan Utzman, Dorothy Hogan and founding Queen Mala Bowdouris.
After a toast and singing Happy Anniversary the cake was eaten first—a tradition. After lunch the Queens of the club were introduced: current Queen Glenda Brown and past Queens Peggy Crandell, Nanci Zipes, Jan Utzman, Trudi Searles and Mala Bowdouris. After a memory game listing over 80 fun events though the years, Bert Zeitlin taught the ladies a new line dance. Ten years have passed, but these ladies are always interested in trying something new. Red Hat Ranchers look forward to many more fantastic events in the future.
