Fran Chupp
The early residents of Robson Ranch, known as “The Pioneers,” have many memorable tales and experiences to tell. For example, one early resident, Fran Chupp, was known for his fast and some would say “reckless” golf cart antics. At times, Fran whizzed up to a new man in the community and after a brief chat, would invite him to join his Saturday morning Bible study on his back patio.
Those who came to Fran and Darla’s home were greeted with a smile and treated to fresh donuts and hot coffee. As the number of men coming to his patio grew, other groups formed, and men opened their homes for the gatherings. For many years, Fran generously bought donuts and delivered them to each of the host homes for his Christian brothers.
All denominations were represented in the meetings, as well as all levels of Christian belief. Attending a meeting was intimidating at first for some men. But Fran and others were always eager to offer encouragement and remind “newbies” that everyone was a beginner at some point. Fran’s passion was to see people grow in their Christian Walk, and this was evident in everything he did. His life was dedicated to building up the Body of Christ, especially through his unwavering commitment to encouraging and guiding men in their faith.
The Robson Ranch Men’s Bible Study Groups carry on his ministry that has touched countless lives. What started as a small group of men meeting at his house for prayer and study has blossomed into a movement of discipleship where men could come together, support one another, and grow in their relationship with Christ.
Sadly for those who knew Fran, he was called home by his Lord and Savior on Jan. 8 of this year. But he will be remembered as a man who truly loved this great community. His legacy of faithfulness and love will endure in the many Bible study groups that continue to meet, in the lives he impacted, and in the countless seeds of spiritual growth he planted. Fran was a true servant-leader—humble, kind, and always eager to help others find their place in God’s plan. His passion for men’s spiritual growth and his commitment to the Christian faith have left an indelible mark on the Robson Ranch community and beyond.
We will miss you, Fran, but we rejoice that you are now home with the Lord.
