The 86th regular session of the Texas legislature will commence on January 8, 2019. It will end on May 27, 2019 after a duration of 140 days per the Texas constitution. Over 600 bills and resolutions have been filed already for this new session. The last regular session in 2017 had 10,672 bills and resolutions introduced. Is it possible for the average citizen to keep track of all this information without hiring your own lobbyists? Yes, it is possible, but we need to know how to do it. That will be the subject of the January 2 regular meeting of the Robson Ranch Republican Club.
We are pleased to have Rachel Malone, former Director of Operations at the Republican Party of Texas and current Texas Director of Gun Owners of America, as our main speaker. Rachel will walk us through the nuts and bolts of how bills become laws in Texas. This will include the important topic of how to effectively testify before a legislative committee in Austin. Whether you support or oppose a bill, your personal appearance to testify can have a significant effect on whether the bill is passed or defeated.
Come to our meeting at the clubhouse on January 2, 2019 and find out how you can become more engaged in what happens in Austin during the upcoming legislative session. Social time starts at 6:30 p.m. The regular meeting starts at 7:00 p.m.
