The Robson Ranch Republican Club had the opportunity to honor one of our members at the Denton County GOP volunteer dinner, which was held on Sept. 18 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Lewisville. Each club was asked to nominate a member who they felt had gone above and beyond when it came to giving of themselves to the club. We nominated Jim TenBrook. Jim served on our board for two years as treasurer. Also, he served on the Fourth of July Parade Committee and the Nominating Committee. While being treasurer, he was able to establish 501(c)(7) status with the IRS for our club.

The volunteer dinner event was made special by the Denton County GOP. They allowed us to name our table, as well as decorate it, which was a lot of fun. We were the “Republicans at the Ranch.” The table was decorated with red, white, and blue flowers set inside red cowboy boots. We had antique spurs on the table, too. Many favorable compliments were received. Our president Laurie Wiginton presented Jim TenBrook with a certificate of appreciation as Volunteer of the Year and a bouquet of yellow flowers for his wife Kathy. All of us know that behind good leaders are wonderful families who experience far too many cold meals waiting for us to come home!

State Representative Richard Hayes, HD 57, was the master of ceremonies. He brought knowledge and wit to the night. He even stumped a few of us with a constitutional quiz.

We are thankful for all our volunteers who help make our jobs a little easier. If you would like to be a part of the Robson Ranch Republican Club, please go to our website www.rrrepublicanclub.com. Check out our new website. It’s full of lots of great information.

The Robson Ranch Republican Club will honor our veterans in the clubhouse at our Nov. 5 meeting. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with the meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. We are excited to have State Senator Tan Parker as our special speaker for the evening. All veterans are welcome, regardless of their political affiliation. We urge veterans to RSVP to rrrcveteransevent@gmail.com or by contacting Laurie Wiginton at laurie.wiginton@gmail.com. We want to ensure that we will have enough gifts for each of our veterans. Please do plan on joining us for refreshments. A cash bar will be available on that evening also.
