On Oct 22 the Upper Eastside Rivercrest Potluck Group hosted and invited all the new residents of Rivercrest to our very first Oktoberfest. Forty five neighbors attended in what we hope will become an annual tradition. Our street is nearing completion, and the original potluck group thought this could be a fun outdoor event to continue to grow in participation every year.
The weather cooperated nicely. We had tables set up for noshing, and lawn chairs were scattered about. Claudine and Dewayne Parrish generously donated their yard and driveway for the food and beverage point. Everyone participated and brought finger foods, snacks, desserts and of course, a beverage of their choice.
We had a Beer Barrow. Yep, you guessed it, a wheelbarrow full of beer. There was a jar full of candy corn that everyone had to guess how many were in there, and Diane Malone won and took home the entire jar of candy corn. If you love candy corn give her a call; she has plenty!
It was a fun time, and we all got to meet our new neighbors. Who says getting older has to be boring? Not the people of the Upper Eastside Rivercrest Potluck Group.
