Michael Nolan

In the 1960s Bill Glass played football for Baylor University and the Cleveland Browns. During the off seasons, he attended seminary. Billy Graham urged Glass to go into ministry when his football career was over. In 1969 he started Behind the Walls, a ministry for prisoners. After Bill Glass passed away in 2021, Michael Nolan took the reins as CEO of the organization.
The Robson Men’s Bible Study was honored to have Mr. Nolan speak to a group of about 80 men and women at a quarterly breakfast on Saturday morning, July 26.
Over the past 50 years, Bill Glass Behind the Walls has trained more than 70,000 volunteers across the U.S. Through them, more than 1.7 million prisoners have heard the good news of the gospel. Mr. Nolan stressed the importance of discipleship but reported that less than five percent of Christians are proactive in sharing their faith.
In a closing prayer, the audience was challenged to:
1. Commit their hearts and lives to Jesus Christ,
2. Make a daily commitment not to be lukewarm for the kingdom of God, and
3. Ask God what He wants you to do each day to be a disciple for Him.
Special guests at the meeting included the mayor of the City of Denton, Gerard Hudspeth; Tony Jeffery, lead pastor of Fellowship At The Ranch; and Cliff Kapka and Steve Stark, staff members of The Well Community Church in Argyle.
The founder of the Robson Men’s Bible Study, Fran Chupp, walked the talk as a true disciple. Fran was one of the “pioneers” of Robson Ranch. He invited men to Saturday morning Bible Studies on his patio, offering coffee, donuts, and, more importantly, the Word of God. Now there are five non-denominational Saturday Men’s Bible Study groups. Visit our webpage at RobsonMensBibleStudy.Weebly.com for more information about us.
Our next “All Group” breakfast will be on Saturday, Nov. 8, in the clubhouse. We’d love to have you join us at 7:30 a.m. for coffee and fellowship, followed by a buffet breakfast at a reasonable price. Our guest speaker will be Jesse Reimers with Samaritan’s Purse. We need to know you will attend so that there will be enough food. Contact David Laschinger at 214-763-2871 for more information or to register.
