The Robson Ranch Ambulance/Fire Task Force made up of Robson Ranch residents hosted an informative meeting on February 16 at the main clubhouse auditorium. Approximately 300 Robson Ranch residents were in attendance. Also in attendance were Mayor of Denton Chris Watts, Denton Fire Chief Robin Paulsgrove, and Denton Assistant City Manager Jon Fortune.

Kathleen Wazny, Chair of the Ambulance/Fire Task Force, organized and led the meeting.

Presentations included, in this order:

William Wallace, Task Force member: A statistical summary of the seven fire stations in the City of Denton, their response times, and the number of calls for each station.

Frank Bollinger, Task Force member: A review of ambulance/fire protection in other Robson communities in Arizona.

Chief Paulsgrove: Welcomed the involvement of residents and recognized their concerns regarding response times at Robson Ranch. He touched on the proposal going before the Denton City Council the following day, a proposal that would dramatically reduce emergency response times to Robson Ranch.

Mayor Watts: Welcomed the involvement of residents, the turnout of residents that evening, and that he was aware of the efforts for years of residents at Robson Ranch to lower response times. He said it was all about timing, and it appeared the timing was positive right now as growth in and around Robson Ranch was taking place.

Larry Klein, Task Force member: A statistical review of the homeowner insurance ratings for Robson Ranch homeowners and a review of other factors impacting insurance rates.

John Chorba, Task Force member: The latest numbers from our HOA regarding number of homes and projected growth rates: 1575 homes closed, 70 under construction and an estimated growth rate of approximately 150 homes per year for 2015 and 2016.

The following day, February 17, a proposal was submitted to the Denton City Council by Chief Paulsgrove. Two large components of the proposal directly impact Robson Ranch. They include:

Placing an ambulance at Fire Station No. 7, which is located at the Ponder exit on 35W.

Building a new fire station in partnership with the Town of Argyle. It would be located one mile from the Robson Ranch front gate. It would be located on Cleveland Gibbs Road. Cleveland Gibbs Road would be extended north where it would meet Robson Ranch Road. The shared fire station would provide emergency services to new and existing communities in Northlake and Argyle and to Robson Ranch.

City Council members had several questions after the presentation by Chief Paulsgrove and asked for clarification and more information. Chief Paulsgrove will be providing an update to City Council.
