The Spotlight Window next to the woodshop at the Creative Arts and Technology Center is highlighting another fine artist residing at Robson Ranch. Donna Shuford, like many of us, is a transplant from another state. She graduated from the University of Illinois and has furthered her studies in France, Italy, Spain, Mexico and Peru and the USA. While living in Plano, she co-owned Gallery VIII before moving to Colorado. The varied climates of these different locations influenced her color palette used in each locale.
Donna enjoys working in a variety of media including collage, etching, linocut, monoprint, batik and watercolor to achieve new styles of presentation. Using the beauty she finds in nature as her stimulus, she never runs out of things to paint. Initially she gained recognition for painting large florals and landscapes. Then wanting to do something unique to her, she created the “Regeneration Series” and never looked back.
Shuford has won many awards, has works in private and corporate collections in the United States and has been featured in watermedia books and magazines. We at the Ranch are fortunate to have Donna as a neighbor! Do take a walk through the CATC building and enjoy her exhibit.
