The Robson Ranch Catholic Club began 2025 with an energetic and inspiring program on the evening of Jan. 14. Wally and Debbe Sagui spoke to a crowd of 60 people about “Faith, Family, and Fitness.” Active parishioners of St. Mark Parish, Wally and Debbe are the parents of six children. Wally is well known to Robson residents as a licensed massage therapist and a NASM certified personal trainer. Debbe currently teaches children with dyslexia in the Denton ISD. As in all good partnerships, the Saguis took turns sharing their experiences and insights.
Debbe shared the word she chose to represent her Faith, Family, and Fitness aspirations for 2025: Steadfast. She recounted instances in her life when people unexpectedly helped her to become steadfast in her faith. Debbe praised the group Familia for young mothers, and The RESCUE Project as ways of “finding your people” to support your faith. She also suggested attending a retreat at the Montserrat Jesuit Retreat Center.
Wally talked about the distractions that take us away from our faith. He would sometimes use work as an excuse to miss church and family events. Attending Mass every Sunday is his faith foundation. He is becoming involved in various church ministries as well.
Family was Debbe’s next topic. She observed that although life with young children has challenges, it’s when they become young adults that more conflict can arise. It often takes a combination of prayer (she recommends the St. Monica Novena), surrender, and good, old Catholic guilt to remain a steadfast example and support for her children.
Wally encourages attending Mass as a family. Establish family prayer times (at meals, say the Rosary). Participate in the children’s activities and ministries; have an invitational approach to older kids.
Debbe recommended some products to help her remain steadfast in fitness. Bodi, by Beachbody, offers a variety of workouts. The company also sells Portion Fix containers to help with food portion control. Wally suggested setting an exercise schedule. Start small (15 minutes three days a week) and gradually extend the length of time. Having a strong body helps prevent and lessens the impact of falls.
Dennis Petit spoke about the Jubilee Year of Hope for the Feb. 11 program.
The Catholic Club welcomes all RR residents to attend our events. Club activities include a book club, potluck dinners, field trips, and supporting Our Daily Bread ministry. For more information, please contact Joan Bridges at [email protected].
