Nancy Burns
Once again, the After Schoolers wish to thank you for helping to make our fall Garage Sale a huge success. Proceeds from the sale are used to support the teachers and staff of Borman Elementary and LaGrone Advanced Technology Complex in Denton. At the beginning of the school year each teacher received a gift of $40. This “startup” money was used for a wide variety of needed classroom supplies such as foam mats, learning games, table lamps, technology tools, art supplies, notebooks, plastic boxes for first aid kits, glucometer strips and many more. Because of your generosity and support, another monetary gift will be given to the teachers during the holidays. We are privileged to be able to assist these teachers as they educate their students to be lifelong learners.
This fall, the After Schoolers hosted a pizza luncheon for the teachers and staff of Borman Elementary. We also hosted a luncheon of chicken salad sandwiches for the teachers and staff of LaGrone Advanced Technology Complex. The teachers enjoyed their time together and were most appreciative.
The After Schoolers are busy little elves this holiday season. We are filling baskets with food and holiday treats. We are filling colorful, homemade pillow cases with scarves and stuffed animals. All of these food items and holiday gifts will be given to needy families in the Denton area. Also participating in this philanthropic endeavor are the Robson Ranch Material Girls who created and sewed gorgeous Christmas stockings and colorful pillow cases. Bonnie Thomas and Marge Lane crocheted beautiful scarves. The baskets are overflowing with your generous donations of food. The generosity of our Robson Ranch community continues to be overwhelming! Thank you so much for your help!
The After Schoolers meet the second Friday of each month at 10:30 a.m. in the Medina Room in the Clubhouse. Our next meeting will be December 14. We have some fun and interesting field trips planned for our members, spouses and friends during the new year.
New members are always welcome. If interested, contact Judy Riffel-Karr at 940-262-0160.
