Welcome Co-eDs!
We have a new group playing on the outdoor courts: the Co-eDs. The group consists of beginners and advanced beginners, level C and D players, both men and women. This fun group plays on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. and is being coordinated by Tricia Douglas and Bert Duplantis. A round robin format allows players to mix it up. It is a great opportunity for our new players to learn more about the fun sport of pickleball. Anyone interested in joining this fun group, contact Tricia Douglas.
Pickleball is in the spotlight again!
On January 16 Don Wall, representing Ivanhoe Broadcast News’ Smart Women series, joined our lady picklers on the outdoor courts to learn more about the sport, organizing play and how pickleball fits into an active lifestyle. Ivanhoe is a news-gathering organization that covers issues important to women, such as health and fitness and provides reports through its syndicated television series and on their website Ivanhoe.com. Don and his cameraman Mikan Haaksman spent two hours interviewing players, filming matches and even had a drone equipped with a Go-Pro camera flying above the courts. The overhead shots of the courts were amazing!
What’s My Line?
We now have a new way to practice in the gym! Have you noticed the line painted on the back wall? The line is net height and allows players to hit against the wall—a great way to improve your dinks, volleys and even lobs. Players can practice during free time hours in the gym. Try it; it’s a real workout!
Robson Ranch Denton Pickleball Club Annual Meeting
The 2015 general meeting of the membership is scheduled for Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the clubhouse, the Lone Star/Legacy room. Election of officers will take place. All members are encouraged to attend.
