Joan Muyskens Pursley
In January, the Robson Library Board of Directors elected G. Gil Clifton as chair, replacing Linda Terry, who recently moved to Arizona. Ms. Terry had been board chair since 2010 (two years after its founding) and donated literally thousands of hours of her time to ensure the library is a well-organized, comfortable, and welcoming place for Robson Ranch residents.
Two new board members were also elected in January: Linda Bono and Marcia Elving. Other members of the board are Nancy Tarpley, secretary; Fred van Naerssen, treasurer; and Doris Koenig, Joan Pursley, Sally Ryerson, Jerry Tarpley, and Diane van Naerssen.
Linda Bono is a founding member of Friends of the Library (FOL) and a past vice president and president of that organization. During her time on the FOL board, Linda organized many excellent book discussions in the library, as well as spearheaded our Great American Novel contest. Marcia Elving is a member of FOL and has been a library volunteer for about a year. You may recognize her; she works in the library on Sunday afternoons from 2 to 4 p.m. She brings valuable computer skills to the board. Linda and Marcia were two of a dozen outstanding candidates for board membership. The board thanks the candidates for their interest, and the many library volunteers who keep our library materials organized and provide friendly assistance to patrons.
Located in the southeast corner of the Creative Arts and Technology Center Building, the library is open daily to all Robson Ranch residents. There is free WiFi in the space, as well as computers and a printer for residents’ use. If no volunteers are present when you visit the library, please use the clipboard on the front counter to self-checkout books. For more on the library and FOL, visit www.RobsonLibrary.org.
