Robson Ranch Republican Club Event Highlights

Laurie Wiginton

2024 has kicked off brilliantly for our members, making a significant impact across the county. Our club hosted numerous Meet and Greets, engaging with important candidates during dinners. During early voting, our members have been actively involved as poll greeters at various locations throughout Denton County. Not only did they greet at the Ranch, but they also served as election judges, poll watchers, and poll greeters.

Our members were spotted at various events, including the Let Freedom Ring Dinner where the club bought nine tables as per members’ request. Elected officials mentioned our club several times, with Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick acknowledging us from the stage. Senator Drew Springer praised our club’s efforts for the Republican Party in Denton County. Our Liberty Belles purchased a table for the Lincoln Reagan Dinner as well.

Numerous Meet and Greets were held for House District 64 and Congressional District 26 candidates. Jeff and Laurie Wiginton organized a successful event for Congressional hopeful Scott Armey, while Bob and Lynne Kelsey hosted Congressional Candidate Brandon Gill. Jim and Lisa Dyer welcomed Burt Thakur, a candidate for the 26th Congressional District, in their home.

Members also attended a fundraiser where Governor Abbott spoke, with some occupying four tables. They had the chance to meet the governor and highlight the club’s active participation. Governor Abbott was impressed by the club’s membership count and voting turnout.

With the primary election season wrapping up, excitement continues into April and May! The potential of a run-off race exists for those in house district or congressional races with more than two candidates. You’ll also see campaign efforts begin for candidates in the municipal races. In the City of Denton, this will include the mayor and two at-large council seats. School board positions are also on the horizon in May.
