Community Outreach continues to be busy. Thanks to everyone who participated in the Snack Pack Project. Together we filled 325 snack packs with 20 items in each, about 1,263 pounds of food, which equates to $3,100, which were provided to families with school-age children who came to Denton Community Food Center in June. A big thank you to Carolyn Kelly who led this project and purchased a large portion of these snacks with your donations.
Dianna Duncan announced that donations through Share the Blessing for Journey to Dream totaled $450. These funds are earmarked for their Back-to-School shopping event.
The next Community Outreach project was to provide school backpacks for Denton County Friends of the Family (DCFOF). It was done differently this year. We worked with an online company to assemble the backpacks. Backpacks will be shipped to Robson Ranch. The cut-off was June 9. The results will be announced at the July luncheon.
At the Community Outreach meeting on June 10, we talked about upcoming events for Our Daily Bread (ODB), Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas, and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Denton County:
