Are you a bookworm? Do you love libraries? Just an occasional reader? A jigsaw puzzle aficionado? Or do movie DVDs float your boat? Whatever brings you to the library, count yourself lucky to have our Robson Ranch Library right here on the property, with the Denton Public Library (DPL) making regular visits to bring some of their services directly to residents! If you haven’t made it to the Robson Ranch Library for a DPL visit yet, drop in for the next one. You’re sure to learn something about our Robson Library or DPL that you didn’t know.

On March 24 DPL librarians were in our Robson Ranch Library in the CATC building to sign up residents for DPL cards, to renew expired library cards, and to answer questions about using e-readers to download electronic books, audiobooks, movies, and other materials available digitally from the Denton Public Library. On the visit, the librarians answered questions about their CloudLibrary and Hoopla digital services, provided hands-on e-reader assistance to numerous residents, and signed up 47 residents for library cards. Fourteen residents also registered to check out materials from the Robson Library. It was definitely a busy day in the library!

On April 14 the DPL Outreach Librarian, Haley Phillips, was back again in the Robson Library to offer an informative presentation on using and navigating the DPL website, www.library.cityofdenton.com. One attendee commented that she was so happy she’d come. She’d had no idea how much information was available on the library’s website. Public libraries offer much more than books these days, and the website helps explore the possibilities. You’ll find information on available classes (both in person in the library and online), databases (some available from your home computer), genealogy resources, The Forge Makerspace at North Branch Library, book clubs at the library, book recommendations, and so much more! There’s even a Book-A-Librarian form to schedule a help session.

Haley is passionate about helping the community take advantage of the services the Denton Public Library offers. She’s always looking for new ideas on what library services residents are interested in knowing more about. At her two spring visits, she asked residents for their input on what days and times they might prefer for DPL to visit the Robson Library. If you weren’t able to fill in her brief survey, feel free to leave a note with the volunteers on duty when you’re in the Robson Library. Indicate your preferences (day/time) and what type of things you’re interested in learning about DPL. There’s no need to identify yourself. Haley is just trying to determine how best to serve the Robson Ranch community. How lucky are we to have such a good relationship with Denton Public Library? Lucky, indeed, I’d say!

Many residents aren’t aware that the Robson Ranch Library has a website, too: www.robsonlibrary.org. Check it out! You’ll find lots of helpful information there.
