When I heard we were having a prom at Robson, I had no idea what to expect, so I went up the first morning of ticket sales. There was a nice crowd patiently waiting to purchase tickets. These dance-crazy people were up early to send emails to secure their place in line.
Would there be prom dresses and ruffled shirts dragged out of mothballs? Would our gentlemen be decked out in pastel tuxedos?
Once again, the amazing Robson Ranch Dance Club pulled off a successful event. Couples were seen twirling around the floor late into the night (by Robson standards). Many times during the night you found the ladies leaving their dates at their tables while they took over the floor for some dance time.
While they did not crown a Prom King or Queen, there were no “wallflowers” at this dance. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
Many of the gentlemen were decked out in tuxedos, and many ladies were in formal gowns. I saw corsages, boutonnieres, and satin white gloves.
Now let’s talk about the music. “Wow,” is all I can say. Wally Sagui, “Samson,” as some refer to him, did an incredible job. Then our own Michele Brandt shared her amazing vocal skills with us.
Door prizes are always the highlight of the night. Thank you, Nothing Bundt Cakes Denton, Henry Evans Dance Lessons, Ponder Family Dental, Porto Finos in Krum, and Tyler Clark (golf pro at Robson), for your donations. Door prizes were won by Walter Brake, Joanie Price, Barb Bent, Nancy Spratt, Kevin Mckinnie, and Lisa Scott. Congratulations to all our winners.
Mark your calendar for their next dance, Party in the Park, on Aug. 4. The Roof Raisers will be playing. Check them out at www.roofraisersband.com and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/theroofraisers.
