RR Residents Share Resources with Kerrville Flood Victims

It began simply, with the passion of two Robson Ranch residents, and ended with an overwhelming response.

Upon reading about the horrific flooding in Kerrville, two RR residents decided to ask their neighbors to help those in the Texas Hill Country whose pets needed resources for survival. Rather than waste time knocking on doors and repeating their message over and over or searching for email addresses and reaching out blindly, they created a simple sign and placed it on their pickup truck’s tailgate.

The sign listed items needed for pets and that they would be delivered to Austin Pets Alive!, AustinPetsAlive.org, on July 12. The word spread as friends and neighbors walked or drove by. A few boxes were placed in the truck for neighbors to place their donations.

Over three days, the response was overwhelming. The boxes were filled with leashes and collars. The truck bed was loaded with bags of towels, tarps, kennels, and about 400 pounds of dog food.

“I’m awed by how our RR neighbors care and responded for those in need,” one of the organizers said. “This incredible outpouring demonstrates how much our neighbors care. Thank you to those who donated to this cause.”
