RR Women’s Club—Community Outreach

KD Rutherford

Dianna Duncan announced that the April luncheon donations through Share the Blessings benefiting the Denton Community Food Center totaled $754. These funds will go to the Snack Pack Drive to buy non-perishable, kid-friendly snacks for families during the summer months.

Denton County Friends of the Family will be the recipient of the Share the Blessings in May. Proceeds next month will go towards a Friends of the Badge appreciation event honoring our police officers. The Share the Blessings lunch certificate was won by Kathy Ackerman.

Suzanne Spisak called attention to handouts in the table folders. There is a Denton Community Food Center information sheet, which also includes a QR code in case you wish to donate. The Snack Pack Drive flyer provides information. Purchases gathered at the May luncheon or dropped off at the homes listed on the flyer will be used to pack the bags later in May. There will be an envelope, so if you don’t have time to shop, a $20 donation will help buy snacks as well. The goal is to fill 500 snack packs.

We toured Journey to Dream on May 1. Journey provides a safe, caring, supportive environment for teens ages 14-19.

We had a great turnout at the Community Outreach meeting held on April 14 at 10 a.m. at the clubhouse. Journey to Dream staff joined to talk about the home life experience and other services they provide these teens.
