The Robson Ranch Men’s Golf Association hosted its 20th Annual Member-Guest Tournament on Sept. 26-28. Mother Nature was more than kind to the players, with temperatures ranging from 65 to 85 degrees. Seventy-eight teams entered the field where they were flighted, with six teams in each flight, playing in a match play format.
Over the course of the three days, each team played the other five teams in their flight in 9-hole sessions. In the end, 13 flight winners were crowned and two wildcard teams joined them to advance to a final shootout. The fairways were lined with golf carts and spectators who cheered on their flight winner. Five teams were eliminated on the first shootout hole, four teams on the second hole, and four teams on the third hole. The teams of Hans Stover/Louis Aquino and Tom Sheffield/Mel Krewall were the last two standing and advanced to 9 north, the final hole. Both teams parred the hole, sending them to a chip-off competition. In the end, the team of Sheffield/Krewall was victorious and earned the title of Tournament Champion.
This year’s tournament was planned, organized, and run by Bob DiFonzo, Kevin Murphy, and Hans Stover.
