You didn’t have to travel along too many rural roads in September to find a night of “country” with shiny belt buckles, tasseled shirts and cowboy hats. It was right here at Robson Ranch where “westerners” dusted off their boots, tied scarves around their necks, grabbed a beer and got their stomp on at the Dance Club’s boot scootin’ dance party “Deep in the Heart of Texas.”
It didn’t matter how much of a Texas twang you had, whether you drove a convertible or a pick-up truck, or if you wore Wrangler or Armani jeans, there was a little of something for everyone. Party favorite Flashback Entertainment twanged their way through a mix of classic country hits along with rock and roll, swing, Latin and ballroom. There was plenty of two-stepping to all the country favorites of Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, George Strait and so many more.
Along with the party the Dance Club held its annual meeting and announced its dances for the upcoming year. And to continue all the fun into 2018, club officers were elected: Jackie Killingsworth, president; Phyllis Ayers, vice president; Vicki Baker, secretary; and Gloria Baer, treasurer.
Many thanks and gratitude were extended to Bert Zeitlin, Marilyn Melo, Janis and Ray Peters, Katherine and Ken Bass and Geraldine Gawle for their service in making the past year a resounding success. Also a great big thank you was offered to the many sponsors who provided door prizes in the way of gift certificates and gift baskets for all the lucky winners.
Deep in the Heart of Texas was a boots a-tappin’ and fingers snappin’ night where everyone had a down-home good time! Now mark your calendars for the 2018 dances for even more good times ahead. Visit our website at www.rrdanceclub.weebly.com
