Sassy Stampers Club Supports Our Troops

Deena Barber

The Texas weather was in the high 80s, and we were doing our best to have the Christmas spirit when we met on Oct. 20 to put together 100 Christmas cards for Support Our Troops (SOT). Eleven Stampers worked on an assembly line to put this card together. Die-cut machines were lined up, and we diligently punched out the background design of pine branches and pine cones. There was a separate station for making the card base and the sentiment circle. Four hours later, and we were still at work with very few actual cards put together. Recipients of any of our cards may not realize the work and hours that go into producing a card. Our spirits were high, because we enjoy our time together, and we also know that these handmade cards will be appreciated by the service men and women who receive them.

Our club works hand-in-hand with Support Our Troops here at Robson Ranch. After the cards are completed, they are taken to SOT where members will add an address, message, and include a generous holiday check. The cards will then be sent off to deployed service men and women who have family ties to our residents. There are approximately 90 deployed men and women to whom the cards will be sent. They will know that we are thinking of them while they are away from family and thanking them for their service.

This beautiful card was designed by Vie Knous. What a wonderful group of gals we have in our club. We love to craft and when our cards are used for such a fine reason. It is a win-win.
