Sassy Stampers—It’s in the Bag

Cherlyn Conway

The fall season is packed with activities for our kids and grandkids, and it seemed to have found a lighter than usual group on Nov. 16 for the last card making day of the year. It’s hard to believe that we are in the final stretch of most activities around the Ranch for 2024.

This month’s meeting was packed with information regarding the remainder of 2024 and going forward in 2025. The focus of this meeting, besides making something very special, was voting on our new board officers for 2025.

The vote was unanimous that Debbie Warrick, president; JoAnn Gantos, vice president; Mickey Grames, treasurer; and Vie Knouse, secretary, will be leading us all in cutting, stamping, and gluing into the new year. With this leadership, the new year promises to be another year packed with new techniques and projects. All the Sassy Stampers members thank them for their time and talents in volunteering for 2025.

With the gift card drawing and committee updates done, it was time to turn the floor over to Bobbie Witt who was our project lead this month. Bobbie came up with something a little different for us to make. Since gift giving is right around the corner, how about gift bags?

The gift bag project had all the elements of making a card. There was still cutting, scoring, folding, stamping, and gluing involved. The table teachers enlightened us that the hardest part of this project was dedicated to which side of the 12×12-inch double-sided paper you want on the outside of your bag and that you need to make sure when you score for the fold-down edge of the bag that your paper is going in the right direction if you had directional paper.

It didn’t take long, and the Stampers had the score, rotate, score, rotate sequence down and soon had their bags ready to be assembled, with a couple of cuts so that the pieces fit together. Then the final step was tying the ribbon for the handles and attaching the bag bow. The room was soon decorated with many designs of gift bags, ready to be filled with that perfect gift for someone special.

Stampers’ last gathering for 2024 will be on Dec. 14 for the holiday party. This is always a special time for us to enjoy each other’s company and find out a little more about each other, since on card making days, there is little time for chit-chat and we are focused on our projects.

You might be in chaos with the holiday season when this is published, and our craft rooms are settling in for a short winter nap, but the Sassy Stampers club still wishes you a happy, joyful, and safe holiday season.

Until next time, maybe our articles have piqued your interest in what we are about, and we’ll see some new faces in Room 104 at the CATC on the third Saturday in January as we start our new year!
