On a hot, sultry Saturday in June, the CATC found many Sassy Stampers thankful they joined a club that holds indoor gatherings. As the temperatures and humidity climbed outside, inside, Room 104 filled with Stampers escaping the heat and enjoying a couple of hours to use their energy to stir the creative part of the brain and enjoy some gal-pal time.
The monthly club meeting covered voting on an addition to the by-laws, different committee updates, treasury report, and upcoming events; and the drawing was held for the gift cards. Winners were Lynne McKeown for bringing a card for the display window with colors of red, white, and blue, and Gloria Baer for the volunteer for the month.
With the housekeeping done, there were some curious Stampers waiting for the card to be presented by Debbie Warrick and the card kits handed out. The size of the card this month was different from past kits, which had piqued everyone’s interest.
Table teachers took over and shared their supplies and insights on making this card and suggestions on what worked best for them to design, decorate, stamp, and assemble the card. As the name suggests, there are windows that open to reveal a message or graphic to depict “Happy Birthday,” “Thinking of You,” “Get Well,” or just a plain “Hi.”
One never tires of seeing all in attendance get a baggie full of paper, parts, and instructions and what creation is crafted even for those of us who don’t think we have a creative gene in our body. All we need to do is be willing and open to someone else’s knowledge and guidance and keep in mind this is not a competition. We are here to enjoy, relax, stir up some brain activity, and have fun after all those many years when all we could focus on was the basics of life.
The July meeting will be a little different and lots of fun. So, Stampers, make sure you watch for the GroupWorks sign-up and RSVP. You don’t want to be left out!
