Sassy Stampers Welcome Fall

Cherlyn Conway

The monthly meeting and card day on Sept. 21 in the CATC found a line forming, with many beeps and green lights as Stampers entered Room 104 for the first time under the new access system. We are wondering if the new system was installed to teach us patience, since you can only enter one-by-one now.

Everyone got in the door and found a place to call home for the next hour. The room was filled with the buzz of conversations before the meeting was called to order. This month’s business meeting covered the following:

• Welcome to our guests and a new member.

• Nomination committee will be looking for candidates to fill board positions for 2025.

• Dates for upcoming special projects and events.

• Support Our Troops (SOT) auction card update and deadline to turn in cards for the silent auction. Guidelines are on GroupSpot under the attachments. Handouts were available.

• SOT sample Christmas cards are due. Cards will soon be reviewed with the SOT liaison to pick the card they want Sassy Stampers to make for them for the SOT December card and gift distribution to the troops.

• Gift card drawings were held for the window cards and for this month’s volunteers.

• October window card colors will be fall/Thanksgiving colors of brown, orange, green, and maroon.

On to the fun stuff. Vie Knouse, our project lead this month, introduced us to a two-part fun-fold card. The kits came with everything cut and ready to design and assemble this all-purpose card. The kit and instructions might have seemed complex to some, but the table teachers were there to put to rest any concerns and guided their table in getting their cards together. All agreed that the hardest part of the card was determining where to put what paper on all the folds. Additional guidance was needed in demonstrating how to attach the two pieces of the card to make the card open and close correctly.

All the tables finished their cards with ease and success and shared their creativity. You could hear thoughts floating around the room with ideas, themes, and occasions for this card. It’s another keeper for our go-to card file. It seems our new members and guests were hooked that Sassy Stampers is a great club to belong to.

All in all, we welcomed fall with a fun card, special fellowship time, and the excitement of what next month’s card has in store for us.

The Sassy Stampers windows proudly display the club’s talents every month. It is exciting to have visitors to the Ranch stopping at our window and say such kind words of our craft. We hope to see you stopping to peek soon.

Until next time, as the season changes, we hope you get to see some of the fall color changes and enjoy the cooler weather.
