Sherry Zeise
Sure “the wearin’ o’ the green’ was the theme of the day as New Life Church Lunch Bunch gathered at the awesome home of Jack and Jackie Geist. Lads and Lassies joined this time to enjoy a wonderful Irish dinner of Jois Ross’s scrumptious corned beef and cabbage, complimented by potatoes, carrots and green Jell-O salad, broccoli-cauliflower salad and Irish soda bread. Desserts included brownies, cobbler, banana pudding and pistachio pudding. Our hostess, Jackie, added to the St. Patty’s Day fun by making green lemonade!
Diane Edmondson brought us up-to-speed on her election bid and was congratulated on her up-coming run-off.
Dishes were cleared, drinks refilled and chairs reshuffled, as director Jois Ross called us to get out the hymnals to enjoy a hymn-sing. Judy Fairchild played keyboard and Sherry Zeise led us as each one announced his or her favorite hymn or gospel song. Hearty singing and “Oh, I like that one, too,” filled the time as we poured out praise to the Lord. We affirmed that because of “that old rugged cross” and God’s “amazing grace,” we have a “friend in Jesus, Who’s everything to me.” All of us agreed that “I don’t know about tomorrow, but I know [Christ] holds my hand,” and “because He lives, I can face tomorrow.”
