Hats and horses were the order of the day as the Robson Ranch Singles Club welcomed the coming of spring with a Kentucky Derby party. The event was held at the Grill on Derby Day, May 6. Over 80 of the club’s members attended.
Chef Aubrey prepared a great feast as usual featuring BBQ beef and chicken, beans, slaw and dessert. It was enjoyed by all.
Derby Day is famous for ladies and hats, and this tradition was carried out by many of the ladies of the club. Best hat contest was won by Pam VanOverwalle. The committee made the event such a success. The cake consisted of 18 or so jelly rolls arranged in the shape of a horseshoe, prepared by Jeanne De Arment.
Entertainment consisted of some lively contests in a modified pari-mutual format to see who did their homework in predicting winners and losers.
The Singles Club participates in many varied social, cultural and community service activities throughout the year. We meet every Tuesday to “Mix and Mingle” at the Grill from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.. If you are interested in learning more about the club stop by to see us there.
