Spooktacular Halloween Event in the City Of Denton

News from your City of Denton representative for the arts, Francesca

d’Atria Romano:

I hope you all had a chance to visit the City of Denton for the past 31 days of Halloween. It was a tremendous undertaking with a fabulous response from visitors. Each and every day marked another event, taking place for the enjoyment of both children and adults during this Halloween season.

A spectacular and funny graveyard was set up in front of City Hall where people would walk around all of the tombstones, and there would be much laughter after reading the inscriptions. Behind this cemetery, you could find the 175 artistically designed Spooky Chairy Orchard chairs running through Quakertown Park. Ten of these chairs came from our own Robson Ranch artists, myself included.

Did you get to the large monster octopus tentacles coming out of the original City Hall building, which would glow purple and green at night?

There were fun cemetery tours at the Independent Order of Odd-Fellows Cemetery where we met some strange characters.

We listened to author Teal Gray as she took us on tour of the gravesites one evening. On another evening she took us on a tour at the Fowler Library where we met their paranormal experts. They explained how their instruments picked up spirit energy throughout the library, and they allowed us to use these instruments. Of course, the Ghostbusters were there to help us along, LOL.

The city streets were filled with people enjoying the bars, the music, the costumes, and the funny antics happening throughout the town.

By the time this press release gets published, the events will all be over, but there is always next year to look forward to. I strongly suggest that you keep up with the events at your City of Denton.

I would personally like to thank all of the board members who did a fabulous job creating this event, especially Gary Packett and Omar Siddiqi, and Greater Denton Arts Council’s Krissi Oden. I would also like to thank all the volunteers and actors who gave of their time and their talents to help create the atmosphere of scary fun.

I finally get time to put my legs up and rest until our next big events. I am looking forward to working with the city on our Christmas events.
