Coming up on Friday, April 28, is the 15th Annual Support Our Troops (SOT) Charity Golf Tournament and fundraiser. Robson residents with military family members on active duty or active reserve are welcome to invite them to play. Their tournament participation will be covered by the Robson Ranch Sales Office. The cost for other golfers will be $100 for annual golf members providing their own carts and $135 for non-annual members. This covers your golf as well as range balls, breakfast, and coffee on Friday morning and a hamburger lunch on the Grill patio at the awards ceremony following play. Mulligans will be sold at $5 each. Golf for four with carts at Denton Country Club will be raffled for $5 per ticket or 5 tickets for $20, and each team may buy up 200 yards closer to the green on hole 2 South for $20 per team. Because the tournament format is a four-person scramble with no minimum number of drives per player, you don’t have to be a good golfer to enjoy playing. There will be individual awards for longest drive, straightest drive, and closest-to-the-hole for both men and women, and team prizes. The number of prizes for all-women teams will be determined based on the number of all-women teams participating. All prizes will be Robson Ranch gift cards. This tournament is always very popular, and it sold out last year. So don’t delay submitting your entry form and risk getting put on the waiting list as several players were last year. There will be a maximum of 144 players playing on the South and West courses. You can get your sign-up forms at the Pro Shop. Even if you are not a golfer or not available to play in the tournament, you can support SOT by purchasing a sponsorship, available at various levels, starting at $150, which entitles you to have your name on a sign on one of the holes. At higher levels of sponsorship, starting at $250, you are entitled to a hole sign and a golfer(s) entry in the tournament. Of course, SOT accepts donations at any level. We want to give special recognition to the golfing group known as the Featherheads whose members donate to SOT for each birdie made by a Featherhead member. Over the past several years, the Featherheads have donated over $37,500 to SOT!
All of our fundraising goes to support the military. Our primary support goes to fund the cards and care packages we send to the active-duty military and their units who are related to folks at Robson Ranch. If you have a relative on active military duty, you should contact Roger Thomas at [email protected] to get their name and contact information on our Support Roster. We also support several other charities, including Patriot Paws, that have objectives similar to SOT. SOT meets in the clubhouse the second Monday of each month at 1 p.m. You do not have to have served in the military to join SOT. All folks from the Ranch are welcome. We would love to see you at one of our meetings and have you become a part of this wonderful and important organization.
