A few days before Christmas, Support Our Troops members prepared to celebrate with family and friends, and ten relatives of Robson Ranch residents deployed overseas were sharing and enjoying the contents of the SOT Christmas shipments. The shipments contained cookies baked by members of the Robson Ranch Sweeties, Christmas stockings handmade by the Robson Ranch Material Girls, snacks, candy, and other comfort items. All relatives of Robson Ranch residents on our support list received Christmas cards that included a special Christmas monetary gift. The Moral Welfare Recreation Center in Afghanistan received their specially requested wireless controllers for the game systems at the center.
Throughout most of 2014, we saw a drawdown of personnel we were supporting in the combat zones. However, as the year came to an end, the combat deployments suddenly increased and we have been advised of two additional deployments in January. The generous support of Ranch residents at our Spring Golf Tournament and the November Silent Auction, as well as business, club, and individual donations, will permit SOT to continue to meet the support needs in 2015. Funds raised during 2015 will be used to establish the 2016 giving budget.
The SOT 2015 membership drive is underway. Annual membership dues for Robson Ranch residents are $10 per person. The membership form can also be used to submit information about family members and relatives of Robson Ranch residents serving in the US military to be placed on our support roster. Sponsor level donations of Silver ($50.00), Gold ($100) or Platinum ($250 or more) may also be made. Membership and sponsorship forms are available in the HOA kiosk, or can be requested by email from [email protected].
The first SOT meeting of 2015 will be on Saturday, January 17, at noon in the Clubhouse. We hope to see many of the 440 veterans currently living at Robson Ranch at our future meetings. Thank you all for your support of SOT’s mission to provide for the material, physical and emotional needs of our military men and women at home and abroad.
