Award-winning composer, arranger, conductor, saxophonist and pianist Drew Zaremba and members of his renowned “Zaremba Jazz Fellowship Orchestra” will collaborate with the Robson Ranch Community Choir in an upcoming evening of jazz and big band standards everyone is sure to know and love.
Zaremba is a former star player of the Grammy-winning world renowned UNT One O’Clock Lab Band, the premier group at the University of North Texas College of Music. All members of the group to perform at Robson Ranch with the choir are also current or recent members of the elite group, which tours extensively throughout the world on a regular basis.
Dr. Arturo Ortega, Music Director of the Robson Ranch Choir, has been looking forward to this collaboration with Zaremba for quite some time. A prodigious talent in spite of his young age, Drew Zaremba has had 20 of his own original compositions recorded between the One O’Clock and Two O’Clock Lab Bands. Zaremba has also served as clinician and master teacher in Los Angeles, New York City, Brussels, London, Paris, The Hague and China, and as performer he has spanned the globe earning accolades from audiences and critics alike. His recent CD, Two Sides of the Same Coin was just released (January 2017) to rave reviews.
A professional conductor for over 25 years, Dr. Arturo Ortega has enjoyed acclaim and accolades from many of the world’s musical centers. He has conducted some of the world’s leading orchestras and collaborated with some of the finest musicians alive today. Ortega’s recent concert engagements include appearances in Mexico, London, Spain, New York and Portugal.
Ortega and Zaremba will be available for a meet-and-greet pre-concert wine reception on Saturday, April 22, beginning at 5:00 p.m. before that evening’s performance, which starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets to the reception are $15. Some of the musicians will also be in attendance. UNFORGETTABLE: An Evening of Jazz Standards will feature the Robson Ranch Community Choir along with the Zaremba Jazz Fellowship Orchestra in a program of jazz standards made famous by Frank Sinatra, Etta James, Andy Williams, Benny Goodman, Henry Mancini and others.
