Technique: A particular method of doing an activity involving a skill
On July 19, more than 30 members of Sassy Stampers arrived at the multipurpose room in the CATC building wondering what in the world Debbie and JoAnne had in store for them. Always organized, they had arrived early to set up tables in a semicircle. The tables were covered in brown paper, and items that would be needed for their demonstrations were set out and ready to go.
At our short business meeting we learned that no longer would directions for the monthly cards be printed out. The directions will be available on GroupSpot where we can print them out individually or read them off of our phones. The cost of printing 70 instruction sheets each month has become too prohibitive for our budget. Debbie requested ideas for the SOT (Support Our Troops) Christmas cards to be turned in by September.
On to the techniques where we learned how to “kiss on” and “kiss off.” Caught your attention, didn’t I? Nothing improper here. It was a stamping technique where a flat stamp without an embossed pattern is inked with one color and an embossed stamp is inked over the top of it in another color. We then went on to learn the following: Thumping, Misting, Rock & Roll, Crumbled Distress, Baby Wipe Stamping, Masking Tape, and my personal favorite, Smacking Acetate. Some of us had a lot of fun with the use of that last name. You know who you are.
It is going to be such fun to see what members will come up with at the next meeting when they bring cards using these techniques. There is a lot of creativity in this group.
This spring has been unseasonably cool, with a lot of rain. We are now entering into the hot months and soon will have our first triple-digit temperatures. Did you know that August is named after Augustus Caesar?
The birthstone for the month is peridot, and it has two celebrated flowers: the gladiolus and poppy. No other month starts on the same day of the week each year, and in a leap year, it shares the same start day of the week as February.
