On Wednesday, May 24, the Republican Club held its end-of-year awards dinner at the clubhouse after a banner year for the club! More than a dozen awards were handed out, with gratitude being expressed for all the service and work that so many members have volunteered throughout the year.

Of special note were the recipients of the two highest awards from the club. Lisa Gollihar received the Liberty Award for her indefatigable commitment to establishing the women of the club into the Liberty Belles–something between a separate club and an auxiliary of the club. The Liberty Belles are actively supporting two different charities and getting the rest of the club to do so as well, in addition to such important things as a happy hour for our ladies (since no one gets a chance to drink at Robson! LOL) and social gatherings and so many more activities. David Laschinger received the President’s Award, the highest in the club, for his exceptional and extraordinary service to the club. His service was critical in transitioning us to a fully functioning website (RRRepublicanClub.com) that looks great and has numerous features, including online payment and donations, portions of the site for members only, and many other things that are expected in today’s world but that we didn’t have until this year. David took us from no website to a truly professional site today, including researching software and what other clubs were using and what was needed to best help our club. Now we have a site worthy of a club with nearly 800 members.

Most of the other awards had humorous names, yet were heartfelt in their recognition of people’s service, including the “Vanna White Award,” the “If I Build It, They Better Come Award,” and the “Old Geezer Terrorist Award,” which was given to the individual who came up with the question for our High School Essay Contest this year.

To make it even more enjoyable, the Drama Club surprised us with a couple of skits that even our president didn’t know about. Everyone loved the humorous skits they did, and we are grateful for the many hours they put in preparing for those skits. Definitely another great club out here at the Ranch and a top-notch performance!

The club’s fiscal year is June through May, so it’s the end of our club year. Our new officers will be taking office in June. We are already preparing for the Independence Day Parade and, of course, there will be a Primary coming next year. If you are not yet a member of the Republican Club, we invite you to visit our website and join the club! We believe in having lots of people do little jobs so we don’t burn out anyone, and so we can all enjoy living in this great community! We hope to hear from you soon. Visit RRRepublicanClub.com.
