Julie Greenwalt, Robson Ranch Republican Club
The Robson Ranch Republican Club is hosting a series of candidate forums in the coming weeks, offering residents an opportunity to hear directly from those seeking public office. These events are designed not only to introduce the candidates but also to educate voters on the official responsibilities of each office. The club believes that understanding what these responsibilities are is essential for making an informed vote. This forum provides an opportunity for each candidate to share their priorities with one of the most civically active communities in Denton County.
With many voters still weighing their choices ahead of the primary, the forums are expected to play a meaningful role in shaping opinions. The club emphasizes that these gatherings are not rallies but structured, respectful conversations where candidates address issues important to Robson Ranch and the broader region.
The first forum, which was on Feb. 4, featured the Republican candidates running for Texas House District 64. Incumbent Andy Hopper and challenger Lisa McEntire outlined their visions for the district and discussed legislative priorities. This forum provided both contenders with an equal opportunity to make their case to voters who were eager for clarity on their key policy differences.
A second forum, on Feb. 12, will feature the four Republican candidates running for Texas Attorney General. With current Attorney General Ken Paxton seeking a U.S. Senate seat, the race has drawn significant statewide attention. Candidates Joan Huffman, Mays Middleton, Aaron Reitz, and Chip Roy will share their perspectives on the office responsibilities, their approach to defending Texas laws, and their priorities for safeguarding the rights of Texans. This forum offers residents a rare opportunity to hear from all four contenders in one setting, providing valuable insight into a race that will shape the state’s legal leadership for years to come.
Finally, we have scheduled a Feb. 17 forum featuring the two candidates running for the West Robson Republican Precinct Chairman office, Don Hicks and Tim McCormick. We also hope to host the candidates running for Texas Comptroller.
Residents can expect a format focused on substance rather than spectacle. Each candidate will deliver opening remarks, followed by moderated questions covering topics such as state spending, property taxes, public safety, education, and the role of state government in local decision-making. The forums will conclude with closing statements, giving attendees a final snapshot of each candidate’s message.
The Robson Ranch Republican Club has long been recognized for its commitment to civic engagement. Its forums routinely draw large crowds and are known for their orderly, respectful environment, something many residents value in an era of increasingly polarized political discourse. By hosting these events, the club aims to ensure that voters have access to firsthand information rather than relying on campaign materials or secondhand commentary.
The Republican Club meets regularly the first Wednesday of every month in the Robson clubhouse. All residents are welcome to join us.
