The Robson Ranch Community Choir performed one amazing show with their two spring concerts in April. The concert titled “Silver Screen Classics” showcased songs from the movies. Director Arturo Ortega led the audience. It was a thrilling roller coaster ride of nostalgia and emotions from beginning to end. The show started with “Can’t Stop the Feeling” from Trolls, and everyone was feeling it for sure as soon as the fantastic band started vamping. The choir moved on to songs from No Time to Die’s haunting song of the same title to Ghost’s moody love song, “Unchained Melody”. Then the choir sang the lively “Let the River Run” from the romcom Working Girl just before Danise Sharp’s and George Coleman’s duet captivated us in the beginning of “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun. Before intermission, Bill and Fran Hackley sang solos in the song “I’ve Had the Time of My Life” from the movie Dirty Dancing, stopping just short of pulling off the famous leap done in the movie, only because there was not enough running room on the stage. Of course, songs from the movies could not be done without including “Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz, which was done with absolute perfection. Then, as if Rocky himself were running in right down the red-carpeted aisle, the band played “Gonna Fly Now” from Rocky. The audience went wild. Both Rick Dubose and Bert Zeitlin’s solos in “Shallow” from the movie A Star Is Born entranced us. Then the choir moved on to the sweet song from Coco, “Remember Me.” The movies Carousel and The Sound of Music were both represented with “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and “Climb Every Mountain,” expressing encouragement in finding your dreams and knowing you are not alone. The concert ended with the choir laying it all out there in the frisky Pink Panther’s “It Had Better Be Tonight.” It was truly a great concert experience, enjoyed by both participants and audience alike.

The next concert from the choir will be on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. Please mark your calendar for this special tribute. These Veterans Day concerts are always done with high regard for our veterans here at the Ranch, as well as friends and family of veterans. Soon to follow, our “Christmas at the Ranch” concerts on Dec. 16 and 17 are always a holiday must-see!

The Music Club also has some upcoming events. Coming soon on June 9 is the Summer Sizzle Dance, featuring the premier Dallas party band, The Special Edition Band. You will not want to miss this band! Then on the 4th of July, the Denton Community Band returns to play a wonderful assortment of patriotic tunes.

On July 10 auditions will be held for the choir. Contact Susan Lueders at [email protected] for an appointment. For all information on all concerts and events, go to our website, rrmusicclub.com.
