Jill Rombley-Beam speaking to the Women’s Club
Dianne Ace
The start of a new year can be an exciting time as we begin planning for the next 12 months. The members of the Robson Ranch Women’s Club were inspired by Jill Rumbley-Beam to make 2026 a happy year after hearing her speak at the club’s Jan. 5 meeting.
Jill, a fifth-generation Texas native, is an author, speaker, jazzercise coach, dancer, and former Miss Texas Senior America. Jill spoke about happiness and the importance of always looking on the bright side of life. She discussed five truths about happiness:
1. The things we think will make us happy often don’t.
2. Money does not make us happy, but having more than your neighbor might.
3. Our friends and family make us happy.
4. Old fogies are happier than young people.
5. Beautiful people are not happier than the rest of us. They just look better than the rest of us when they are unhappy.
Jill said that her mother Rosemary Rumbley taught her the importance of laughter. However, it was her grandmother who taught her the formula for being happy. According to her grandmother, you should strip down every morning in front of your mirror and say, “Hi cutie.”
At the beginning of the meeting, Lorie Stockton introduced the new members and guests. Afterward, the members celebrated all of the attendees who have a January birthday.
Gabby Vorst, the new chair of the Outreach Committee, thanked the outgoing chairs, Susanne Spisak and Diana Duncan, for all their hard work. In 2025 the committee raised over $55,000 for Denton charities. The Children’s Advocacy Center of North Texas was the recipient of the Share Our Blessings donations.
Members were reminded by Chris Anderson, president, that it is time to pay their annual dues, which are $20.
The next monthly luncheon of the Women’s Club will be on Monday, March 2, at the clubhouse. KeyReel will entertain with Irish reels and ballads played on his fiddle. He plays with several orchestras in the DFW area and also plays jazz, rock, and, of course, Irish fiddle.
Luncheon checks are due by Monday, Feb. 23, at 8 a.m. in the Sports Center Women’s Lounge in the white mailbox, or they can be paid by credit card on the website at www.rrwomensclub.org.
The menu will be Cobb salad and pineapple upside-down cake. The charity for March is Journey to Dream.
The Robson Ranch Women’s Club is open to all women residing at Robson Ranch. It is a 501(c)(3) corporation. More information can be found at our website www.rrwomensclub.org.
