On June 27 and 28, MGA9 enjoyed ourselves like never before…we played our annual Member-Member Pick-a-Partner tournament highlighted by three firsts!
1st First: record turnout with 46 players comprising 23 two-man teams.
2nd First: winners’ purse totaling over $500; $30 to first place in each of four flights, $20 to second place in each flight plus a hosted lunch in the Clubhouse.
3rd First: A Hole-In-One on the seventh hole by Glenn Carr who humbly explained that he didn’t even see the ball drop. He was looking all over for it and just happened to finally look in the cup. Way to go Glenn!
The two-day event consisted of a day of nine hole team best ball, followed by a day of team alternate stroke, or as Rich Hall sarcastically renamed it, “screw your partner!” Both days were fun and brought out the best in every player. And finally, the frosting on the cake was the MGA9 hosted lunch after the final stroke was swung! Nothing could be better than a free lunch emceed by our out-going, long-time president, Frank Ruggiero!
Robson Ranch Denton gentlemen golfers not yet participating in MGA9, you’re missing the boat by not being an active, playing member. There’s still half a year’s fun left! Between now and the end of the year there are three more fun tournaments:
The Memorial Day 9 on September 19
The MGA9 Club Championship on October 17 and 18
A second Member-Member (computer selected) on November 14 and 15
