Voices United (VU) members marched as a group for the first time this year in the Robson Independence Day Parade.
To make their contingent stand out and provide a platform for those who could not walk in the heat, Chris Laffey, committee head, volunteered her husband’s imposing black pickup, and the VU social committee hosted a lively truck decorating party the evening before the parade in Jan Land’s driveway.
The members who made the truck patriotic for the 4th were Jackie Ford, Jan Lands, Vickie Shoemaker, Sheri Quarfoot, Sara Shibley, Phyllis Ayers, Ann Madigan, Michele Kibler, Nancy Wendt, Gloria Sutherland, and Chris Laffey. The next day, Sutherland added her golf cart to the parade contingent.
In addition to the decorators, parade participants included members DeeDee Karabetsos, Diane Van Naerssen, Joan Pursley, and Elma Hinson.
Voices United is a nonpartisan group of Robson Ranch women who share progressive values, perform community outreach, provide civic awareness and social contact for members, and have a good time!
