As the Hoof N Heels committee closed out the books for 2017, they discovered we had some extra funds that needed to be spent. We had donated funds from tournament earnings to Support our Troops, Toys for Tots, Our Daily bread and the After Schoolers program at our holiday year end party. The committee decided to spend the funds on delivering an extra special Christmas to a few families in our area. The WGA Hoof N Heels group contacted Ponder Elementary. The school shared with the group two families that could use some extra help with the holidays. One family had just experienced a home fire and lost everything. The WGA Santa project group went into full shopping mode.
The WGA Santa Project Elf team went on a shopping spree the third week of December and it was “ho ho ho” as they filled four shopping carts with Christmas gifts. The Christmas Elves then proceeded to Darlene Lamb’s house where the “ho ho ho” continued, as they wrapped and tagged all the gifts for the families. The gifts were delivered to Ponder Elementary just in time for Santa to deliver to the families.
The families were so appreciative, and the WGA Santa project team felt grateful to all our 2017 Hoof N Heels sponsors and the WGA members for a successful tournament.
