What? Join the Fishing Club? You’ve Gotta Be Kidding!

It’s time to get reeled in with the RR Fishing Club.

Hold on a minute before you get the wrong impression and start snickering about the RR Fishing Club. No, we’re not a bunch of old geezers reminiscing about the good old days fishing with Grandad. No, we don’t just dig out that misshapen cane pole to fish on the Robson Ranch ponds. No, we don’t just sit on the riverbank gazing up at clouds, content with snagging a two-inch minnow.

Now sit back. Close your eyes. Imagine a Canadian outpost situated on the shoreline of a pristine lake teeming with walleye and northern pike. Or floating cabins on the wild and exotic Amazon River angling for giant peacock bass and schools of piranha. Then there’s the stunning Upper Kenai River and Fjords in Alaska with its wild halibut and king salmon, ready for the taking. And, of course, that 10-foot-plus, 518-pound sturgeon wrested from the waters of Oregon’s Columbia River.

A bit closer to home, there’s fishing the ethereal Caddo Lake for trophy-size largemouth, white, and Kentucky bass. Squaw Creek Reservoir, southwest of the metroplex, where close to 150 catfish were caught in a single day. Year-round fishing at Lake Texoma, always a favorite, where striped bass reproduce naturally in one of only seven U.S. inland lakes. Even closer is Lake Ray Roberts, which never bores with abundant catches of sandies, crappie, and black bass.

Oh, and let’s not forget to mention the Fish Frys where the entire club feasts on some of the best food ever tasted. Deep-fried, beer-battered fish with all the fixins—French fries, coleslaw, baked beans, and dessert, all washed down with a cold beer or sweet iced tea.

Changed your mind about the RR Fishing Club? It’s home to countless memories, fishing tales, and good times. Try us out. You’re sure to get hooked!

Plans are always in the works for fishing destinations to area lakes and beyond. The RR Fishing Club meets the second Wednesday of each month at the Wildhorse Grill Boardroom at 4 p.m. For any inquiries, comments, or suggestions, contact [email protected] or Scott Baker at 214-334-7664.
